Language and literacy intervention for struggling learners

We help build the skills that traditional classroom instruction often doesn't reach. Unlike one-size-fits-all reading programs, structured literacy supports are:

  • Multisensory — Students see, hear, say, and write letters and words simultaneously, strengthening the connections between them.

  • Structured & Sequential — Skills are taught in a logical order based on their areas of need, building from simple sounds to complex language patterns, so nothing is assumed or skipped.

  • Cumulative — Each new skill builds directly on mastered ones, reinforcing learning instead of moving on before it's solid.

  • Diagnostic & Prescriptive — Instruction is continuously adjusted based on how the student is actually responding, not a fixed script.

  • Individualized — Lessons are tailored to each learner's specific strengths and gaps, not a generic grade-level curriculum.

This isn't a quick fix. It's a systematic way of rebuilding the foundation of reading, writing, and spelling — one skill at a time.

Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist

Lauren Butters, M.Sc., SLP(C)

I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist with more than a decade of experience across different clinical settings.

My clinical interests include literacy, speech sound disorders, articulation, and expressive and receptive language, with a particular interest in the relationship between spoken and written language.

As the mother of two school-aged children in the public education system, I understand first-hand the challenges facing parents of children with learning differences. I hope to fill language, literacy, and learning service gaps in my home community.

Passage is based in Roberts Creek, with services available to families in Gibsons, Sechelt, and Halfmoon Bay. Depending on your needs, sessions may take place at the home clinic, in your home, or virtually.
